St. John’s, NL, November 21, 2011 – They’ve created online auctions, promoted live auctions, and even utilized the Santa Claus Parade to raise money for charities in need at Christmas time. This year, The Idea Factory is going even bigger. They’re turning their traditional fundraising efforts into an unforgettable one-night event: Toy Factory LIVE - a three act live show and auction at Club One on Friday, December 9.
Chief Idea Officer, Kevin Casey, said he is excited that this year’s donations will once again be going to Ronald McDonald House of Newfoundland and Labrador; “While The Toy Factory is about fostering the spirit of imagination and making magic for children in need at Christmas, Ronald McDonald House will work its own special kind of magic for sick children and their families 365 days a year.”
The VOCM Cares Happy Tree will also be a recipient of the evening’s festivities; each guest is asked to make a toy donation at the door, so that the Happy Tree can spread its Christmas magic to even more families.
Talents like Darrell Power, 709, and a special reunion of Timber will get together to rock this charity function into the night.
A live auction will tempt guests with local artwork, trips, and much more, while K-ROCK personalities Mike Campbell and Big Tom will bring out their inner kids to host the event.
Cathy Bennett, Vice-Chair of Ronald McDonald House, said the entire committee is thrilled that The Idea Factory has chosen them for the annual Toy Factory fundraising efforts once again. “Every member of The Idea Factory team has been amazing with their support of this house. Their contribution to the building of Newfoundland and Labradors first Ronald McDonald House has been nothing short of outstanding.”
The event, scheduled for December 9 at Club One, will begin at 8pm.

Backgrounder The Idea Factory, a St. John’s-based marketing and communications firm, is making magic happen for deserving families again this holiday season. Since its inception in 2009, The Toy Factory has made Christmas dreams come true for hundreds of families. By raising over $125,000 and 2,500 lbs of toys, The Idea Factory and friends have made the magic happen through contributions to Ronald McDonald House, Single Parent’s Association, and the VOCM Happy Tree.
Ronald McDonald House of Newfoundland and Labrador will offer our Province’s sick children and their families a home-away-from-home – a warm, compassionate and comfortable environment for a nominal fee. They will be located within five minutes walk of Newfoundland and Labrador’s only dedicated pediatric hospital, the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.
The VOCM Cares Foundation focuses their Christmas time Happy Tree Project as a way to collect and then distribute toys for needy children in our province aged infant to 18 years. They have been working for over 40 years, to ensure that children do not experience and ‘empty stocking’ on Christmas Morning. |
